Yesterday, we talked about how operating the autopilot system impacts on our ability to spice up our marital romance. Today, we shall be taking it further by discussing yet another Spicy Romance tip.
One of the dynamics of marriage is that spouses don’t often have the same strengths and weaknesses. Hence, effective couples are often those who have mastered the process of complementing each other, rather than competing. This is why when it comes to Spicy romance, we recommend that all hands be on deck because romance is a lifestyle, an ability anyone…anyone can learn and perfect over time. Hence, when I hear couples say, “I am not the romantic type”, “we don’t have time for these romantic things, we just keep it real”, “romance is for young couples”, etc., what I hear is, “my marriage is not priority”. Nobody was born romantic, we only have people who have invested time, effort and money to become a better spouse.
It is sad to see people stuck in a worldview and personal stories that limit their marital experience. It is sad to see individuals abandon the entire responsibility of spicing up their marital romance on an already exhausted spouse.
