This week, we shall start a new series on Motherhood. Motherhood is leadership. It is a God-given privilege to influence the next generation (biological, adopted, …). Every effective Mother knows her child more than anyone can possibly do. They know their tendencies, inclinations, the temptations they can can possibly fall for, etc. Little wonder a mother can tell the potential ‘culprit’ behind a missing item left in the refrigerator, lol. However, beyond this, every mother must recognise great traits in their children and ensure they nurture them until they blossom.
“What, O my son? And what, O son of my womb? And what, O son of my vows? Do not give your strength to women, Or your ways to that which destroys kings. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, It is not for kings to drink wine, Or for rulers to desire strong drink” Proverbs 31:2-4. In this scripture, we see a mother nurturing and calling forth dignity and royalty out of her son, as a matter of fact, raising the standard of acceptable behaviour. As a little child, my parents would not allow me interact with certain people in the environment we lived in then. Looking back, I can see that they were not trying to be killjoys, but were helping me guard my heart so that the limiting habits and thinking patterns in my environment would not get into me. As Mothers, we must remember that we are custodians of tomorrow, every child of ours must realise his/her potentials.
THINK & ACT: Take a good look at your children, recognise the fact that they are not average (but gifted) children and let that propel you to develop a practical training system.
