Today, we would take the Vision series a step further. One of the principles that has transformed my life is the power of synergy. Working with exceptional people and above all, getting married to one, makes landmark accomplishments seem like a walk in the park. However, we can’t talk about working together unless there is a shared vision; a vision that is shared by everyone involved in the project. As a leader, a father, a mother, a fiancé, etc., it is not enough to have a compelling vision, you must be able to communicate it with so much clarity and passion, such that people would not only see themselves within it, they would also be willing to join forces with you to speedily realise it. People make sacrifices when they buy into a vision.
As a single man, you must develop this ability before saying “I do”. In this era, where traditional roles of the man in the family can be done better by most ladies, what will position you as the head is your ability to create and communicate a compelling vision which your wife-to-be can buy into. Her vision must find expression in it. This applies to married men, single parents and anyone leading any group of people. The word, submission, literarily means sub -under and mission – an important piece of work that a person or group of people has to do…(Macmillan Dictionary, 2016). Hence, if you want to see willing ‘submission’, bring on board something compelling. Sell a life-changing dream!
THINK & ACT: Develop your capacity to communicate with images and feelings. Ensure the vision contains your spouse’s vision and interests. Have regular strategic meetings to constantly align yourselves to it. You will be amazed at the results.
