Someone once asked me, “how do I get my man to open up?”. As I thought about the question, it became obvious to me that the question was about vulnerability and intimacy. We often say, there is no true intimacy without vulnerability. I will share a few points from our relationship.
Confidentiality: During courtship, one of the things we agreed on was that transparency would be one of our family values. As a result of this, we have been able to build a relationship in which we can openly share deep things about ourselves. Initially, doing this was new to me because it meant being vulnerable, taking a ‘risk’ with my heart, and above all, trusting that my personal information would be kept safe.
Now, how do get your man/woman to open up? You must earn his/her trust as regards confidentiality.
