Childhood!
“He told me that if I ever mentioned it to my parents, they would die. I did my best to run away from him, but because he was so nice to my family and was often available, my parents usually left me with his family during the holidays. During these days of abuse, I lost my esteem, became timid, lost weight and withdrew into my shell. I desperately prayed to die.”
The 21st Century parent works so hard that sometimes if feels like “juggling 20 balls” at the same time.
However, there are balls that must not fall, because if they do, the consequences are often irreversible. The lady in the above story lost her innocence and childhood, and she will never get it back. The painful thing is that this still happens in homes today. Trusted nannies, uncles, aunties, helps and neighbours, abuse and rob many children of their innocence, self-esteem, human rights etc.. Sometime ago, we heard about parents whose children were kidnapped because they hired a nanny without any background check.
Is your childminder a peadophile? How is your child being treated in school? Do you know if your child is being bullied? Does your child come home with people’s things? Are you aware that many of the cartoons televised daily are programming your child?
Prevention is always better than cure.
ACTION POINT: Get involved in active parenting. God will hold us accountable for their wellbeing.
