Life is a God-given opportunity to be a blessing and make an impact in someone else’s existence. This is why it is more blessed to give than to receive.
Many years ago, I had a discussion with a group of friends. I listened as they individually outlined their vision and how they would impact people in specific spheres of influence. All I could do was listen and nod my head in agreement, as I had nothing to talk about. I am grateful I have such friends who stretch me because I left inspired and disappointed with myself at the same time. This drove me into a deep soul search and prayer to understand why God put me on this earth and what he would have me do. Today, the story is different as I have a compelling vision for my life and the organisations I lead, which include my family.
Talking about family vision, it defines your family’s identity, giving your family a clear direction while highlighting the core of ethics that would get you there. In other words, it highlights the type of people you must become to arrive at your desired future. Personally, having a family vision helps strengthen our marital romance, multiplying our results because we are able to harness our resources while leveraging the power of synergy.
Hence, beyond making plans and New Year resolutions for 2017, begin by developing your family vision, your destination is more important than your speed. “Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained…” Proverbs 29:18 and couples grow apart.
