Synergy is powerful and if you have been married for a while, you would have observed its benefits in your marriage and that of others. You would have observed how synergy can turn little resources or average couples into incredible achievers. However, synergy only takes effect when couples collaborate. When couples channel their strengths towards a particular end, amazing things happen.
Talking about collaboration, one thing we have observed is the role of trust. To effectively collaborate spouses must be able to trust each other beyond the peripheral level. You must be able to trust that your spouse would watch out for your best interest, keep his/her part of the agreement, do what he/she promised. Nothing hurts more than trying to collaborate with someone who is not emotionally invested in getting the end result. Confidence in an unfaithful person is excruciating.
Blog post: Collaboration and Intimacy
When we were to launch our website, www.foundationforfamilyaffairs.org, in 2015, we both worked hard together to get the desired result. First, we discussed and agreed that it was time for a website, prior to that time, we were running weekly classes and discussions on BlackBerry Messenger, and our members had been asking for a blog which would accommodate more than 60 members. To deliver this, we had to break the project into different bits such as: developing contents, the corporate colours, registering a domain name, editing, proofreading, getting the developer, setting it up, etc. All these pulled on our experiences and skills. We had to trust each other to deliver on the assigned tasks and this helped us build momentum.
Blog post: Collaboration: A Key To Intimacy
Hence, to collaborate effectively and leverage on synergy, couples must learn to develop mutual trust, there is nothing as exciting as working with someone operating at your frequency!
